Is the US going to have a 2nd Depression?

I'm not really into politics,but i heard that if congress dosn't p a bill soon by this Tuesday that there will be serious repercussions. will we go into depression or just continue like every other day? Also will the Chinese really invade the US if we don't pay back the debt we owe them?
