I need guy help...and fast!?

So, there's this one guy..=)...and I really like him, but the thing is, I don't know if he likes me! I could tell he did last school year (because he would put his arm around me, smile at me a whole bunch, tease me a little, etc.) but nothing really happened because I knew a girl who liked him and I didn't want to hurt her. This school year, he isn't as flirtatious as he was last year. I only have 2 cles with him (Health/Theology and Homeroom), but he sits across the room =/. If I say something kind of funny in cl, he will laugh and say my name. I do catch him looking at me sometimes, but not smiling or frowning. If I look at him back he looks away. So I've heard that you should be straightforward with guys, but I don't want to say something and make everything awkward for the both of us and ruin our chances together. What do I do? Oh, and, before you ask, I don't have texting and rarely get on MSN.
