Poll could someone please tell me how someone can do this?

my name is Britney everyone calls me brit I am 17 and it is just me and my mom when I was 2 years old my dad up and left me and my mom he moved to Texas and when I tried to contact him 2 years ago he was so mean and said he wants nothing to do with me or my mom how could a man do this to his child thank God for my mom we are so close and watch out for each other she works so hard to support us and I have a part time job 3 days a week after school and I work on Saturdays thanks everyone for answering and have a nice evening
